I once believed I was a good Christian because I could quote John 3:16 and knew all the words to "Amazing Grace."
Boy, was I wrong.
It took a midnight panic attack and a wild encounter with a street preacher to realize I was nothing more than a religious parrot, squawking verses without understanding.
Here's the shocking truth: Most "Christians" are clueless about what's actually in the Bible.
And it's killing our faith.
Let me drop some truth bombs on you:
1. The Bible isn't a TikTok compilation.
In ancient Israel, kings were commanded to write out the entire law BY HAND. Why? Because when you write something down, you internalize it. It becomes part of you.
But in our "swipe for Jesus" culture, we've lost this depth. We want 30-second sermons and "5 Hacks for Holy Living."
Newsflash: There are no shortcuts to genuine faith.
2. Your "Christian worldview" might be straight-up heresy.
Too many believers base their entire theology on:
• What their pastor says
• What their favorite Christian influencer posts
• What their denomination teaches
This is no different than swallowing CNN or Fox News whole without questioning.
It's time to ditch the secondhand faith and go straight to the source.
3. Bible study is a lost art.
Most people approach Scripture like it's a fortune cookie or a magic 8-ball. They flip to a random page, point at a verse, and say, "This must be God's will!"
Spoiler alert: That's not how it works.
Real Bible study requires:
• The Holy Spirit's guidance (because the "carnal mind" can't grasp spiritual truths)
• Comparing Scripture with Scripture (not with your aunt's Facebook posts)
• Context, context, context!
4. Ignorance isn't bliss. It's dangerous.
When you don't know what the Bible actually says, you're vulnerable to:
• False teachers
• Cultural compromises
• Your own misguided feelings
You wouldn't let a doctor operate on you if they'd only read the "Cliff Notes" version of anatomy. So why trust your eternal soul to a cliff notes version of faith?
5. Knowledge without application is useless.
Memorizing verses is great, but if it doesn't change how you live, you've missed the point.
James 1:22 says, "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."
Don't be a Bible trivia champion with a lukewarm life.
Here's the bottom line:
Knowing the Bible isn't about being a religious know-it-all. It's about developing a deep, personal relationship with the living God.
It's about having a rock-solid foundation when life hits you like a tsunami.
It's about being able to discern truth from lies in a world full of spiritual junk food.
So, here's my challenge to you:
Commit to reading the ENTIRE Bible this year. Not just the "highlight reel" verses. All of it.
Write it out. Wrestle with it. Let it change you.
Because when you truly know what God says, you'll never be a puppet to religion again.
You'll be a force to be reckoned with.
Now, I'm not just ranting here. I'm on a mission to change this.
Why? Because the spiritual ignorance I see every day breaks my heart. And let's be real - we'll be judged for what we did (or didn't do) with God's Word.
That's why I'm offering two game-changing opportunities:
1. The Biblical Man's Intensive Bible Study Course
This isn't your grandma's Sunday School class. It's a college-level, 12-week deep dive into Scripture. We're talking:
• Verse-by-verse analysis
• Historical context
• Real-life application
The next semester starts soon, and enrollment closes September 20th. Don't miss this chance to transform your understanding of God's Word.
Interested? DM me for details. Spots are limited, so act fast.
2. Create Your Own Legacy Study Bible
Here's a radical idea: What if you could create a Bible that's uniquely yours?
I'm offering high-quality, downloadable Bible text that you can print and bind yourself. (Pro tip: Go for spiral binding. You'll thank me later.)
Why do this?
• Internalize Scripture as you write notes and insights
• Create a personal spiritual journal within the Bible itself
• Leave a powerful legacy for your family - imagine your great-grandkids reading your thoughts on God's Word!
This isn't just a Bible. It's your spiritual legacy in the making.
Intrigued? DM me for more info on how to get started.
Listen, as the Biblical Man, my goal is simple: Spread Biblical truth far and wide. And that starts with getting God's Word into your hands - and your heart.
Don't settle for spiritual fast food when you could be feasting on the riches of Scripture.
Take action today. Your future self (and your family's future generations) will thank you.
Remember: September 20th. That's when the doors close on this semester's study.
The time to level up your faith is now. Let's dive deep into God's Word together.
SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS BOTHERED BY THE COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE OF CONTEXT!!! This has been bothering me for awhile . . . I even wrote a post about it awhile back.
I have to agree with everything you just said! And the sad thing is, most, if not all, of those things on this list are blatantly ignored by the mainstream church.
It is a sad thing to see where our world is heading, especially since a lot of it has to do with the weakening of the church as a whole. We need to pray that the Lord will light a fire within the hearts of His people.
